Shoaib Akhtar Retires After World Cup 2011

Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar officially announced his retirement from international cricket on Thursday. He decided to quit international cricket after this World Cup. The 35-year-old cricketer was commonly known as the “Rawalpindi Express” after his place of origin. He made his debut in the international cricket in the year 1997. He was one of the fastest bowlers in the world to bowl at a speed of around 100 miles/hour. He took 247 wickets in 163 ODIs, 19 wickets in 15 T20 matches and 178 wickets in 46 test matches. Shoaib Akhtar has been the most controversial bowler in his 13-year career. The cause behind his retirement is the knee injury that he is facing for a long time. He also added that he wants to make room for the new comers to take over. But the fact is that we all would be missing this pacer in the coming time.
