India’s Expectation and Scope at London Olympics 2012

The Olympic Games trace their origins far back to the ancient games in Greece and these games evolved over time. London is hosting the 2012 Olympic Games and the preparation is on the peak. We expect a superb arrangement from the United Kingdom. The Summer Olympics is about to begin on the 27th of July 2012, Friday and will end on 12th August 2012, Sunday. The games will start-off with the ignition of the Olympic Cauldron. There will be some stunning performance by Danny Boyle and his team. The opening ceremony is named “Isles of Wonder”.

India has been a strong contender and holds a glorious record in the Olympic Games especially in men’s hockey. They won every title from 1928 to 1956 but lost to Pakistan in the final in 1960. This year 81 strong contingent from India have already arrived the host city. They reached London a bit earlier to get adopted with the environment and get a good practice session. Some of the athletes have already appointed local coaches to train them and get important tips from them about how to adjust and get good results in this weather condition.

After all these preparation and improved performance, the people of this country are a bit worried about the final results. This is due to politicized and moribund sports system in India. The athletes don’t get the highest-quality diet scientifically tailored down to the last calorie. There are problems with physiotherapist and other medical care facilities for the Indian squad. The sports equipments purchased for the sports personnel are not up to the international standard as there are no expertise committee for the procurement of these equipment. So in most of the cases, the athletes buy their own sports equipments.

We, the people of India still expect a lot from our athletes. The expectation is most for the men’s hockey team, shooter Abhivnav Bindra, boxer Vijender Singh and Kumar, archer Rahul Banerjee and others. Our best wishes are with all of them and we expect some glamorous results from them. Indian squad will rock the London Olympics and make the people of this country proud.

India Lifts The Cricket World Cup 2011

India won the World Cup Cricket 2011 by defeating Sri Lanka by 6 wickets. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. Sri Lanka batting first started off badly with an average run rate of around 3 but they ended up with a competitive score of 274. India needed 275 to win the match and the cup. India too started badly after loosing two early wickets of Sehwag and Sachin. But it was Gambhir and the Indian skipper Dhoni who guided India to the victory. Gambhir played a brilliant innings of 97 runs and Dhoni played an unbeaten innings of 91 runs. Finally India reached the targeted score. Dhoni was declared the Man of the match and Yuvraj was declared the Man of the tournament for his all round ability. India lifted the World Cup again after 28 long years. The team members dedicated the cup to Sachin, as this was his last World Cup venture. The Indian players picked up Sachin on their shoulder and went around the field once. This was also the farewell match for the Indian coach Gary Kirsten. The celebration went late up to the midnight for the Indian players but for the 121 crore Indians, the celebration went for a long time. In between the mean time, a controversy raised over the World Cup trophy. Different media claimed that the presented trophy was not the original World Cup trophy. ICC in a press meet clarified that the trophy was really a duplicate one as the original trophy was with Mumbai Custom Department. They claimed deposit money of 15 lacs from ICC but ICC refused to pay the money as so ICC presented the duplicate trophy, which they claim to be the Match Trophy. Whatever it might be, it was a fabulous moment for the Indians and we are proud to get a new world champion after two World Cup.

Sehwag’s Superstition And India’s First Win

India started its World Cup 2011 journey by defeating its neighbor country Bangladesh by a margin of 87 runs. The day and night match was held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and elected to field. India started off well and made a massive score of 370 runs. In response Bangladesh made a score of 283/9. Virendra Sehwag scored 175 runs, which is his highest score in ODI. But the interesting fact is that Sehwag played this match wearing a numberless jersey that just went unnoticed by all. Is this a new style statement of Sehwag or just superstition? When asked about this, Sehwag said that many astrologists advised him to use different numbers in his jersey. Fed up of this, he decided to use a numberless jersey.
